In amazing ways God is helping me integrate into the community of Jarabacoa!
Jump start.

Early in January I was blessed with a visit from my great friend Tiegan, who was my roommate and served at Doulos last year before he headed back to the States for college.

After spending so much of last semester focused on my work at Doulos and schoolwork at home, I had begun to forget the joy of being in good community. Having Tiegan here was like a shot of social adrenaline that reminded me how important it is to spend time with the brothers and sisters in Christ all around me.

Here are some of the highlights...

Adventures.

πŸŽ‰
On the 10th I celebrated my 21st birthday with about 15 friends in my little living room!
🎀
Not many of my co-workers at Doulos know much of my story, so it was neat to be was asked to share for our staff devotions. It was wonderful to get to encourage my co-workers by sharing some of my story and testimony.
Sunday school!
πŸ“–
A delightful experience was randomly getting to help with Sunday school at my local church! I showed up to church Sunday morning and Joel (who also used to be my roommate before he got married) told me that both of the people who were supposed to help him with Sunday school were sick! So I filled in for them and had a blast.
we found it.
🌲
I spent a whole lot of time outdoors! This entailed going on a 5-hour hike up a mountain and almost getting lost in the woods looking for a waterfall!

As the media guy, I got to capture so many sweet moments of the amazing work happening all around me!

New connections.

🍚
A Dominican family from church invited me over to their home for Sunday lunch and games!
πŸ™
A new Bible study for young adults in the area was started by another ministry and I started attending!
hey.
😎
I've never interacted much with our current senior class, but this month I had the opportunity to connect with them by helping them with a fundraiser!
🏐
Friends from a neighboring "rival" school invited my co-workers and I to play volleyball with them every week!

So there you go! That's what my January looked like. Very sunny and warm; and full of new experiences, adventures, and community. It was good. In amazing ways God is helping me really integrate into the community of Jarabacoa, and reminding me that I don't have to do this alone.

Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. – Galatians 6:2
