Better late than never.

Sure glad I didn't quit!
Better late than never.

In August I contemplated not helping with Wyldlife clubs this year because of my increased workload. I decided not to quit, though, and looking back on September, I'm sure glad I didn't!

I was assigned to give the talk for the second club of the semester. As I was thinking and praying about what my middle school friends needed to hear, the idea of Jesus' kingship kept popping into my head. See, at Wyldlife we often emphasize Jesus' love, His sacrifice, His friendship, His goodness—which are all good things, of course! But we don't often talk about His power and authority.

And a key part of understanding the Gospel is understanding that Jesus is Lord.

So I got to present the Gospel to these kiddos from an angle I don't think they'd heard before. Jesus loves us SO much. Enough to die for us. And the fact that He's our King, whose very existence demands our worship, adoration, and obedience, makes His love all the more meaningful.

October Update: Club was last night and God let me have a wonderful moment in small group time. We talked about how forgetful humans are, and the students came up with some practical ways we can remind ourselves of our relationship with the Lord throughout the dayeven as simple as praying before we eat or before bed.

Recent Highlights

me, a co-worker, and a friend from the China days!
👋
I snuck a trip to Florida for a friend's wedding (shout-out Grace) and got to reconnect with lots of friends I met when my family lived in China. It turned out that one of those China-days friends was actually here in the DR! We accidentally ended up on the same flight to Florida, and then when we both came back to the DR, we got to hang out some more!
scaryyyyyy

I made a Facebook and Instagram post for Doulos highlighting our sports mascot, Legend the Lobo (wolf), and in the process I think I traumatized some kindergarteners. Most of the kids loved hanging out with Legend, but a few of them starting crying and running away! One little girl told me, "That's a real wolf!!"
true joy
😁
I've had a ton of fun implementing new activities in the motor lab, and the kiddos have loved it too! This year we've added a whole lot more variety to ensure that the students get the most out of it.

I'm a little late with this update, and—to no one's surprise—it's because I've been pretty busy! Busy, but not overwhelmed! God has been so good, and that's what's keeping me busy. He's been good in my college classes, in Wyldlife clubs, and in my work every day.

Thanks for being a part of His good work down here in the DR!

My Question for YOU!

Do you think mascots are cool or kinda scary?
